How To Define and Determine Success
Success means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. Because success itself is so subjective in nature, it can be difficult to devise specific guides for others. That isn’t to say, however, that you can’t use an objective process to realize your success.
So, if you haven’t defined success for yourself yet, how do you do it? Luckily, I’ve compiled a few different ways to help you along the way.
Firstly, before you even begin to think about what your actual success will look like, you must visualize why you even want it in the first place. Are you looking to achieve something personal? Perhaps you simply want to secure your own financial freedom. Regardless of your reasoning, you simply must be honest with yourself. The other aspect of discovering the “why” has to do with the way success will make you feel. Will you be happy? Will you be confident? Finally, how will success make your life different? Would you live somewhere new? Would you travel the world more often? What would success allow you to do that would change your life?
Secondly, you must find your passion and drive, and discover how adept you are at moving past obstacles. If you aren’t driven, you won’t find success. So, think about why you want for success, and all of the obstacles that could come your way. How are you going to move past them? Will you be holding yourself accountable for actually moving past these obstacles? Do you even want to attempt to overcome these obstacles? Remember, an important aspect of achieving success, especially as an entrepreneur, is honesty. Be honest with yourself in your endeavors. Do not lie; you will only hurt yourself.
Finally, if you want to achieve success as an entrepreneur, you must do something about it. If everyone only thought about taking the next step in their entrepreneurial journey, then everyone would be an entrepreneur. Don’t wait until the right time magically appears; there is no right time. You make the right time. Why are you so afraid of beginning your journey? Create a business plan and just set it in motion. Not tomorrow, not next week, today.
